Mossel Bay Municipal Manager, Thys Giliomee, has been suspended with full pay following allegations of alleged sexual misconduct against him.
The Municipality said in a short statement that the decision to place him on suspension on full pay was taken at a Special Council Meeting on 11 June.
Mossel Bay Municipality says the suspension on full pay is "per prescribed legislation until the finding and sanction from the Presiding Officer in the matter are communicated to the Municipality after completion of the disciplinary proceedings."
"A further press release will follow the completion of the disciplinary proceedings as soon as the Council has received the outcome from the Presiding Officer," the statement said.
Dick Naidoo, the Infrastructure Services Director has been appointed acting Municipal Manager.
