Mossel Bay is now the Covid-19 hotspot in the Garden Route.
This is due to the number of 454 active cases per 100,000 residents in the area, who have tested positive for the virus.
Municipal manager Thys Giliomee says 1 393 people in Mossel Bay have already tested positive for the virus, but some of them have since recovered.
He says 35 residents in the greater Mossel Bay have died of Covid-19 and 31 residents are currently being treated in hospitals for the virus.
Giliomee says the state of affairs is putting hospitals and health workers under more pressure.
