The SA Weather Service in Port Elizabeth says more welcome rain was measured over most parts of the Eastern Cape up until 08:00 on Sunday.
Spokesperson, Garth Sampson says the system is gradually clearing from the west, with more rain expected later in the week.
He says Port Elizabeth received between 23mm and 33mm - bringing the total since the start of October to more than 50mm.
Sampson says Nelson Mandela Bay's catchment area did not fare that well, with 14mm measured overnight - bringing the total over most of the area to just under 50mm for the month-to-date.
East London had 30mm overnight, bringing the total in the city to 43mm.
Sampson says drought-stricken Graaff-Reinet received 26mm since the beginning of October.
He says some follow-up rain is expected towards the end of the week.
