Two investment company directors will spend another week behind bars before judgement is delivered in their bail application, which was being heard in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court this week.
The 31-year-old Michael Rathbone and his 29-year-old husband Leon Lewitton were arrested by the Hawks last month for allegedly duping investors out of more than 17 million rand under their Helping Hand Investment firm.
Some employees who attended this week's Court proceedings told the State that they had not yet received their salaries for October and November whilst others had served the duo with papers from the CCMA.
Well known Defence Attorney Advocate Terry Price, who represents the accused, asked the court to consider his clients' release arguing that none of the accusations had been proven in court.
State Prosecutor Tjaart van der Walt disagreed stating that their evidence was corroborated with supporting documents.
The Court has since heard how the R17 million alleged to have been swindled by the pair has skyrocketed to R21 million since their arrest as more people have come forward.
