Police in Libode in the Eastern Cape have arrested two traditional surgeons and a traditional nurse following the deaths of two initiates, aged 15 and 16.
This brings to at least 15, the number of initiates who have died so far during this initiation season.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, says the surgeons and nurse were arrested in Libode and Nqeleni on Tuesday.
He says its alleged that the traditional nurse was intoxicated and the initiate died of dehydration and septic wounds.
Fatyela says police also rescued six initiates who were sick.
He says says the suspects will appear in court on Thursday.
