Large parts of Buffalo City Metro were without power on Tuesday morning but the power is back on.
Municipality spokesperson, Keith Ngesi, says they've established that the problem was caused by a monkey which jumped onto a circuit breaker.
"There was a monkey that jumped on one of our breakers in the Chiselhurst substation. The power is back on now. There will be a planned outage to fix the damaged breaker" he said
Meanwhile technicians are continuing to work on restoring power to large parts of Nelson Mandela Bay after 2 sub stations tripped on Monday night, leaving 12 suburbs without power.
The metro had hoped the power would be back on by around 08h30 this morning after locating the fault late on Monday night.
It says that repairs to the Kragga Kamma/Ditchling/ Malabar line have been completed. However a secondary fault on a circuit breaker at the Ditchling sub station is delaying the restoration of supply.
