Suspected robber shot dead outside Mthatha

A suspected robber was shot dead after a robbery at a Spar supermarket in Libode, outside Mthatha, on Monday.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, said five men entered the supermarket and demanded money at gunpoint before fleeing.

Police were informed and community members and police gave chase.

Fatyela says that in a shootout with the robbers, one of them was killed, two were arrested and two escaped.

Police recovered R10 000 stolen in the robbery, four firearms and 11 rounds of ammunition.
