Mom dumps baby in bushes

A four-month-old baby has been admitted to hospital after residents found her abandoned in bushes at the Yako informal settlement outside Butterworth.

Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says the residents stopped a passing patrol vehicle and gave the baby to the officers.

She was admitted to the local hospital.

Manatha says police have arrested a 19-year-old woman, and will charge her with child abandonment.
