Mom and kids in hijack ordeal in Gqeberha

Ford Ikon hijacked in Kwaza Street

SAPS

Police have arrested four suspects after a woman was hijacked in New Brighton in Gqeberha on Thursday night.

Spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, says the arrests were made by members of the K9 unit at a petrol station.

She says the four allegedly hijacked a woman in Kwaza Street just after 5 pm, while she was with her children in her car looking for a specific house.

Swart says the suspects ordered them out of the car, and also assaulted the complainant, before speeding off.

The four, aged between 18 and 29, will appear in the New Brighton Magistrates Court on Monday.

The possibility that the suspects might be linked to other serious crimes in Nelson Mandela Bay is currently under investigation.
