Residents of Molteno who have been enduring load-shedding for the past month have resorted to drastic measures to get the Inkwanca Municipality to speed up repair of a damaged transformer.
DA PR councillor, Magda Botha, says residents from the Harare area today created a human blockade around an electric pole carrying the switching mechanism, thus preventing the municipality from turning on power to the local business community.
The municipality has been rotating the electricity supply between residents and businesses so as not to overload the one working transformer.
Botha says the residents have now dispersed, but she says there's still a lot of frustration.
"Two transformers blew initially, one has been returned to our municipality, but they are unable to connect it due to it's compatibility problems with the other transformer. We have been informed that the second one is on its way back on Friday and as soon as it arrives Eskom will help us to connect it" she said.
