Mohair South Africa says its market indicator was lower at Tuesday's second sale of the 2015 summer season in Port Elizabeth.
Mohair SA says "although the average market indicator shed 2.7%, the adult market performed well, with the weaker ZAR/USD exchange rate supporting this sector.'
According to a statement 96% of the 166 658 kg's on offer, was sold.
A highest price of R500 rand per kilogram was paid for a bale of 23 micron good style kid mohair.
Mohair SA says the weaker prices for young goat outsorts resulted in a slight decrease in the average market indicator.
Compared to the previous sale, prices were as follows:
Kids (summer) Unchanged
Young Goats (summer) Unchanged
Fine Adults Up 6.3%
Strong Adults Up 3%
The third summer auction will take place on 24 March 2015.
