Eastern Cape police attended to several service delivery protests in different parts of the province on Tuesday.
Eleven people were arrested in Stutterheim when residents from Amatholaville took the streets.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa, says police fired rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.
Those arrested will appear in court on Wednesday on charges of public violence.
In East London police and members of the Public Order Police Unit who dealt with the Stutterheim protest were dispatched to another protest by residents of Needs Camp.
This is the second time in a week that residents were protesting over service delivery issues.
Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais, says a Member of Parliament who's car had to be escorted through burning barricades, addressed the protestors who then dispersed.
Meanwhile, an Eastern Cape policeman was shot and wounded in clashes with protesting taxi operators at Bizana on Monday night.
He was treated in hospital and discharged after being wounded in the arm by a shot fired from within the crowd.
Police said taxi operators blocked roads demanding that they be tarred.
Spokesperson, Lieutenant Khaya Tonjeni, said 24 people were arrested and will appear in court in Bizana on Wednesday.
He says some shops were also vandalised.
