Port Elizabeth police are maintaining a strong presence in the Missionvale area where residents housing protests led to the torching of three homes.
Its believed that tensions arose between residents of Vastrap and Missonvale following a dispute over the allocation of housing.
Police spokesperson, captain Johan Rheeder, says no one was injured during Thursday night's arson attack and no arrests have been made.
However, he says police are maintaining maximum presence in the area.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, will be in Nelson Mandela Bay on Friday to try and resolve the impasse.
