The woman who was reported missing in Port Elizabeth was positively identified by her parents on Friday at the Gelvandale mortuary.
The 41-year-old Noxolo PrudenceMaxham left her parents’ home in Kwazekele on the 20th of December to go for a walk and never returned.
Her family reported her missing the very same day. Maxham was reportedly depressed and did not know the area.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says on the same day of the disappearance, police attended to an incident where the partially burnt body of a woman was found in an open space in bushes in Schauderville.
She confirmed that the partially burnt body was positively identified this week by Maxham’s family.
Police asked anybody with possible information on what could have happened to contact police.
