A Woman from Welkom who was missing for ten days has returned home where she was arrested.
Police Spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng says the 34-year-old Carin Bezuidenhout dropped her child off at school on the 12th of November and was not seen or heard from again.
Her husband Danie reported her missing and traced their vehicle to a garage in the nearby town of Virginia.
Thakeng says Bezuidenhout then made contact with her parents and told them that she was in Port Elizabeth where she was kidnapped and raped. She informed her parents that she opened a case at a local police station.
He says the husband then drove all the way to PE and took his wife back to the Welkom where they went to the police station.
Thakeng says they arrested her on the spot after it came clear that she registered a false case.
It has since come to light that there is also a warrant of arrest issued for her in North West where she is facing charges of fraud and theft.
Bezuidenhout will make her first court appearance in Welkom on Monday and will be charged with perjury, theft and fraud.
Here is the first article of her appearance which was published on a local news facebook page:
It was on this post that a Facebook user made an allegation that Bezuidenhout was a fraudster. The man claimed that she was an unethical wildlife agent and he was desperately looking for her contact details.
