A 27-year-old man is expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrates' court on Tuesday following the murder of a 15-year-old girl.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies says that, according to their preliminary investigation, the girl residing in Brandwag left her house on January 26 to visit her friend.
He says she never returned home and was reported as missing by her next of kin five days later on 30 January.
Spies says a search for the girl commenced, taking them to a house on Abraham Street in Brandwag.
He says on Saturday, 1 February, at about 7 pm, police were led to bushes near Brandwag, where her body was found in a shallow grave.
Detectives and crime scene experts combed the scene for clues, which led to the suspect's arrest.
The victim's cause of death is not yet known, and a post-mortem will be conducted during the week.
