A Port Elizabeth woman who went missing from an old age home in Sydenham has been found.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 53-year-old Ronell Topper was found at a lodge in Newton Park on Monday afternoon.
She says Topper, who only has one leg, was severely assaulted.
The owner of the lodge contacted police after finding her lying on a bed with serious injuries.
It is alleged that Topper and her friend booked into the lodge on the 4th of April.
On Monday the owner told her 60-year-old friend that they must vacate the property, it is then when an incoherent Topper was found lying on the bed with serious injuries.
The suspect was arrested and is being detained on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
It is alleged that Topper left the old age home with a man named Gerhard Germishuizen, who also lives at the retirement village.
They promised to return 6 day's later but were never seen again.
Topper's son became concerned for her safety and opened up a missing persons report.
