Detectives from the Kabega Park police station in Gqeberha have discovered the vehicle of a man who has been missing for over two weeks.
On Tuesday, police issued a statement asking for the public's assistance in tracing the 56-year-old Carsten Jocksch whose Mercedes Benz Sprinter was subsequently discovered in the Baviaanskloof area.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Jocksch left his residence in Kragga Kamma Road on the morning of the 2nd of February.
According to community members who alerted police on Tuesday, the vehicle had been there for two weeks.
Some even reported seeing Jocksch, but nobody had any contact with him.
According to an initial police report, Jocksch informed his friend that he was going to cycle in the mountains.
During the investigation, detectives established that Mr Jocksch never registered at the Groendal hiking place for any cycling or hiking activities.
Colonel Naidu says the SAPS Search and Rescue unit scanned the area, however, due to the mountainous terrain, the search was abandoned until Wednesday.
Jocksch is also in possession of his licensed 9 mm Glock firearm and his phone is switched off.
