East London police have arrested a 43-year-old female suspect for child neglect at Dorchester Heights informal settlement.
Colonel Sibongile Soci says the suspect was arrested on Sunday.
Colonel Soci told Algoa FM News that the woman is related to a girl who was reported missing on Friday night and has still not been found.
The 8-year-old Lihlumo Mzini was last seen on Friday in the company of an unknown man.
Soci says the investigation into the incident is continuing.
Anyone with information on the matter is asked to contact the Cambridge police station.
Mzini was last seen wearing a pink t-shirt and navy tights.
The child also has an old scar above her left eye.
