Millions of Facebook accounts hacked

Users of social media- and other websites have been advised to change their login details, notably their passwords, as a precautionary measure.

Cybersecurity firm Trustwave says hackers have stolen usernames and passwords for nearly 2 million accounts at Facebook, Google, Twitter, YouTube, Linked-In and others.

According to CNN-Money, the recent massive data breach was a result of key logging software maliciously installed on an untold number of computers around the world.

The virus was capturing log-in credentials for key websites over the past month and sending those usernames and passwords to a server controlled by the hackers.

They discovered compromised credentials for more than 93 000 websites requiring a secure login.
