A migrant worker in Limpopo, believed to be from Zimbabwe, has tested positive for cholera.
The Provincial Department of Health says the man works on a farm in the Blouburg local municipality which is on the border with Botswana.
People are urged to be vigilant and practice proper hygiene and sanitation
It is believed that the farm worker had visited Zimbabwe two weeks ago and upon his return, he went to the local clinic for acute diarrhoea and vomiting.
Department spokesperson Neil Shikwambana says the man is still in hospital but in a stable condition.
Zimbabwe is still struggling with the worst cholera outbreak in over a decade.
In 2008 Zimbabwe experienced its worst cholera outbreak which left a total of 4000 people dead and more than 100,000 people ill. Though cholera is highly treatable, but because dehydration can happen quickly, it is important for those infected to seek treatment right away.
