Members of the Port Alfred policing cluster have opened a murder docket after the body of a man in his fifties was found at his home in Kenton on Sea on Sunday morning.
According to information the victim lived alone and when a relative failed to reach him he arrived at the house to find the man already dead.
Captain Mali Govender says both the front and back doors were open and there did not appear to have been forced entry.
The deceased had been tied up but nothing appeared to have been taken from the house.
Captain Govender said the name of the deceased would only be released once all the next of kin had been informed.
Forensic experts were dispatched to the scene to gather information and establish the cause or death.
The motive for the murder is not yet known and anyone with information is asked to contact their nearest police station.
