The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says the water supply is flowing through the pipeline which it says was damaged during recent heavy rains.
Municipality spokesperson, Kupido Baron, has also called on residents to contact the call centre on 0800 20 50 50 if they are experiencing low pressure or still have no water at all.
He says most of the affected areas will have received water on Monday even if it is slow "because we do not want to overload the system at once."
Municipal staff worked round the clock to repair one of two main pipes that bring water from the Churchill and Mpofu Dams to the Metro after they failed last week.
Work to repair a one metre diametre pipe is still continuing.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape says the water shortage was a result of the metro's crumbling infrastructure.
DA MPL, Dacre Haddon, says this shows negligence on the part of the municipality which he adds will not go unchallenged.
He says he has written to the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Local Government in the Eastern Cape legislature to convene an urgent meeting to explain the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro water crises.
Haddon says he's also requested that the committee consider establishing a board of inquiry to investigate the matter, to take corrective action and to ensure this embarrassing situation never occurs again in the Metro.
