Fines collected by Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's traffic and licensing services have dropped to nearly below 50% between July last year and May this year.
According to a report to be submitted to a safety and security committee meeting this week, fines collected during this period amounted to just R9.4 million.
The report states that at the end of May this year, Traffic and Licensing Services were almost R11 million below budget, almost all of this due to fines not being collected.
Another major contributor was revenue from parking meters, which stood at R34 615 rand against a budgeted target of close on R300 000.
