The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality had to step in and assist dozens of families affected by heavy rain on Monday.
More than 75mm of rain fell in various parts of the city.
Municipality spokesperson Roland Williams, says homes were flooded in several areas including Walmer Township, Missionvale, Ikavelihle and Wells Estate.
He says joint operation centres were established to coordinate relief efforts to affected communities.
Williams says relief efforts included relocating people to community halls and the provision of food and blankets.
