The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says the Metro is currently having a reprieve following the heavy rain, but it is preparing for more downpours over the weekend.
Municipal spokesperson Kupido Baron says much of their resources is being wasted by a hoax about the Groendal dam outside Uitenhage posing a threat to residents.
"We are having a reprieve at this stage the weather subsided but we are expecting the same type of weather over the weekend, however we are very concerned at this stage that rumours are doing the rounds regarding the Groendal dam, claims of a pipe burst as well as a dam wall breaking, that is not correct. The community should ignore these rumours" Baron said
