The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says it again wishes to reassure residents that the drinking water it provides to them is safe and meets the set national standards.
Metro spokesperson, Marthie Nel says residents in Tiryvile, in the northern areas, have been doubly reassured that their water supply is safe, as they now receive water from a different reservoir than from the Kamesh reservoir in which e-coli was detected.
She says treatment of the water in the closed Kamesh reservoir is continuing, and the latest test results have confirmed that two of three samples taken were 100% ecoli free, while a third sample showed a very low level of e-coli.
Nel says another sample will be taken on Tuesday, when it is expected that the test results will be clear.
