Metro promises to restore PE water by noon

Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has missed their proposed deadline to have the water in most parts of Port Elizabeth restored by noon.

The Metro says in a statement that unforeseen technical glitches led to delays in restoring water to the Western suburbs of Nelson Mandela Bay on Thursday.

It says its engineers experienced some challenges during the operation, however, water is now filling up the system.

Water tankers are currently available to assist residents.

The Metro switched off the water to do emergency work at the Nooitgedacht Water Treatment.

NMB took to twitter saying the delays were as a result of snakes in the chamber and old vandalized valves that did not seal.

The following areas are affected:

Francis Evatt Park
Hunters Retreat
Bay West
Parsonsvlei / Westbrook
Morningside
Kabega Park
Sherwood
Westering
