Detectives in Kamesh in Uitenhage have launched a manhunt for the killers involved in the brutal murder of an off-duty Nelson Mandela Bay metro police officer on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said members attended to the complaint of an abandoned vehicle in Tembani Street in Langa at about 08:45 am.
On arrival, police found the body of the officer wrapped in a duvet in his silver Volkswagen Polo.
His throat was slit.
Naidu said no arrests have yet been made and the motive for the murder remains unknown at this stage.
She said his next of kin must still be informed about his death.
