Metro police force costing to be finalized next month

 The permanent and once-off costs associated with the establishment of a metro police force in Nelson Mandela Bay, will be finalised by May 15, in terms of the implementation plan submitted to the Safety and Security Committee on Thursday.

In terms of the plan, the intention is to obtain approval from Council to advertise the position of Metro Police Chief by the same date, and for Council to approve the appointment by July 1.

The plan makes provision for the creation of a number of work streams, one of which will look to establish essential and non-essential costs.
