The municipality has issued a call for tenders for repairs to the Newton Park swimming bath in Port Elizabeth.
The work involves the “reinstatement” of the floor and wall tiling to the pool.
Metrominute reports that with tenders only closing on the 5th of December, its unlikely that the pool will be ready for use during the holiday season.
The pool has been out of operation since July and problems with the tiles resulted in the cancellation of the inter-club Aquabear gala that attracts hundreds of swimmers to Port Elizabeth every year.
The cost of carrying out the repairs to the pool have been put at R2.4m.
