Mercedes Benz South Africa says 2013 will be an exciting one for the luxury car maker.
The East London plant is gearing up for production of the new C-class Mercedes Benz which rolls out next year
The company released its annual results on Tuesday showing that total annualised revenue of R33.8 billion rand was marginally down from 2011.
CEO, Martin Zimmerman believes this still reflects the positive outlook of the South African vehicle market, contrary to the indications of slower growth in the economy and rising inflationary pressures.
He says this year they're hoping to grow revenue and increase production volumes.
"This year the plan is clearly to produce roughly 50 000 vehicles in the plant, unfortunately we have to shut down the plant for the last 3 months due to the changeover to the new vehicle but that will be on a monthly basis as a monthly rate we will be a record level on production side and on the vehicle side we clearly expect to increase our sales by about 5-10% on average" Zimmerman said.
