Two residents from George will appear in the city's Magistrate Court on Thursday for a bail application, after they killed a baboon with a sharp object.
The men allegedly assaulted the baboon last week near a holiday resort in George.
The George Municipality condemned the incident, as three wild animal monitors were recently appointed to deal with baboons causing havoc in the area.
Authorities had feared that residents would take the law in their own hands.
The municipality asked residents to make use of the contact numbers provided and not deal directly with the animals.
