A memorial service will be held at Port Elizabeth's Walmer High School on Wednesday for learner, Mpumulelo Apleni.
The 19 year old grade 11 learner was killed in a hit and run accident while walking with friends on Seaview Road on Friday night.
Another youth was also injured.
Police said the occupants of a suspected silver VW Polo threw a bottle and hurled racial abuse at Apleni and his friends before the driver allegedly sped up and drove into the group.
Police have since appealed to the public for help in tracking down the vehicle which lost a mirror.
