Media briefing to be held after ship parts lines at Coega

Transnet National Ports Authority says it will hold a media briefing on Friday, after an incident which took place at the Port of Ngqura on Thursday involving the MSC Luciana, which parted lines as a result of excessive winds.

Spokesperson, Manie Coetzee says the vessel has been safely moored, and no serious injuries or fatalities were reported.

Gale force winds wreaked havoc in Nelson Mandela Bay on Thursday, with reports of fires which destroyed over 300 shacks in the informal settlement of Chris Hani in Struandale, and at least 20 in KwaZakhele.

More than 2 000 people were left homeless.
