96 Animal production practitioners in the Eastern Cape will be enrolled into the Animal Health Diploma programme by the Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform at the Tsolo Agriculture and Rural Development Institute on Sunday afternoon, in a bid to improve animal health.
The department says in a statement MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane will visit the college on Sunday to talk to the students ahead of the start of their first semester.
The training is aimed at equipping all Provincial Animal Health Practitioners with professional knowledge to help curb livestock parasites, control diseases and provide advisory services to communities.
Owing to the prevalant cases of rabies and other animal dieseas, the group to be drafted into the training programme hails from Alfred Nzo, Amathole, Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi and OR Tambo district
municipalities.
The Animal Health Diploma is registered with the South African Qualifications Authority.
