Meat truck hijacked in Humansdorp

A 28-year-old alleged hijacker is expected to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrates' Court soon in connection with the hijacking of a meat truck on Thursday morning.

Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says the driver and his two assistants were driving from Humansdorp to Port Elizabeth when they noticed a stationary Nissan Sentra at about 4.30 am with three men who flagged them down to stop.
He says two of the men were armed with guns and approached the truck.
Nkohli says when one of the assistants saw the guns he got out of the truck and ran into nearby bushes.
The other two victims were threatened at gunpoint and ordered to get into the compartment behind the seat.
The hijackers drove back to Humansdorp, where police spotted the vehicle.
Sergeant Nkohli says when the suspects saw the police they disembarked and ran in different directions.
Police managed to arrest one suspect who was following the truck in the getaway car.
Police recovered the stock valued at R120 000 and confiscated the getaway vehicle.
Any person who might have information on the other two suspects is asked to contact police.
