The Eastern Cape Department of Education says it will provide temporary teachers to accommodate schools that have an influx of returning matric pupils who failed the 2013 academic year.
Department spokesperson, Mali Mtima says it is department policy that if a learner fails the principal of the school is obligated to take those learners back.
Mtima says the learners should be granted a second chance.
He says the first ten days of learning teams are sent from provincial offices to assess the needs of various schools.
Mtima says learners should not be chased away...
"Every year when we start we have assessment days where we do analysis as to what is needed and not needed at schools for instance we have realised a certain school needs more teachers or more infrastructure we will provide primary educators" he said.
