The days of waiting anxiously for a newspaper to publish your matric results are over.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed that it will no longer be publishing the Matric results for 2021 on public platforms and cited the POPIA Act as a reason.
Department Spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says they recognise that section 14 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, provides that everyone has the right to privacy.
This right to privacy includes a right to protection against the unlawful collection, retention, dissemination and use of personal information.
Learners will now have to collect their results from the schools they attended.
Results will be available from the 21st of January.
