Masualle calls for public input ahead of Bhisho budget speech

Eastern Cape Finance MEC, Pumulo Masualle, is calling on the public to tell him what they would like to see in his budget.

Masualle will table the budget for the new financial year in the Bhisho legislature on the 7th of March.

Metro Minute reports that Masualle will tackle the task with less money than he had to allocate in the 2012/2013 budget as a result of the 2011 Census figures.

When he tabled his adjustments budget last November he said the Census figures had impacted negatively on the province’s portion of the national equitable share.

Masualle said the drop in the province’s population from 6.8 to 6.5 million led to the equitable share from the national fiscus shrinking by R720.9 m in 2013/2014 financial year.

It will also drop by R1.5bn in 2014/2015 fiscal year and by R2.9bn in 2015/2016 fiscal year.
