Police have arrested 10 suspects and seized 239 head of cattle in a massive stock theft bust in the Qumbu area near Mthatha.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Marinda Mills, says the suspects were apprehended in an intelligence-driven operation, supported by a heavy police contingent.
They arrested a suspect on Wednesday, and in response to information gleaned from him, apprehended the other nine and seized the cettle.
Police have urged community members who have lost cattle over the past two years, to go to the Qumbu police pound to identify their stock.
Mills also issued the following warning.
"We want to let them understand that we are aware of their doings and that we have special crime intelligence operations being conducted on a daily basis where we identify these kingpins. In this specific case we have identified one person that is possibly involved with a network of others which led to the bust in Qumbu"
