Massive manhunt under way after failed robbery in PE

One suspect has been arrested and a massive search is underway for two accomplices following a failed robbery at Forlees supermarket in Theescombe, Port Elizabeth.

Police spokesperson, warrant officer Alwin Labans, says several shots were fired but no one was injured when the two suspects robbed two Atlas security guards of their firearms before fleeing into nearby bushes.

Police, supported by a police helicopter and members of a private security company have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Labans says a case of armed robbery and attempted armed robbery has been opened.
