Daily Dispatch editor, Bongani Siqoko says his newspaper is standing by its stories, which resulted in the newspaper being sued for R1.5 billion by an East London attorney.
It is believed to be be the biggest defamation lawsuit in South African history.
Siqoko said they were served with the legal documentation on Wednesday.
The lawsuit has been brought by an East London attorney Mpeleki Chiki who is suing us for R1.5 billion for two stories that we carried about a judgement by a Judge in Mthatha. He took the unusual step of "permanently staying" some 13 years of litigation's by aggrieved former employees of Transkei Corporation who was represented by Mr. Chiki. He then slammed Mr Chiki's conduct as he delivered his judgement"
