Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will turn the sod today for a R500m housing project at Tembalethu in George.
The Department says the Asazani Project will take 7-9 years to complete.
The first of the 4 930 service sites, are expected to be ready in March 2013.
The Western Cape Human Settlements Department says because some residents will have to wait several years for their sites, the local municipality also wants to ensure that residents in informal settlements in Thembalethu have access to basic services.
