The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has condemned in great abhorrence, the mass funeral that took place on Wednesday in Scenery Park in East London, branding it as fake and anti-African.
Provincial Chairperson Yazini Tetyana claims that the families of the victims objected to having a mass funeral conducted by the State, and as a result government continued by placing empty coffins at the event.
He says they will be writing to the Buffalo City Municipality (BCM) and Provincial Government demanding an explanation of how much money was spent on the mass funeral.
The EFF says it was a significant waste of public resources that could have been used to provide service delivery to the community and affected families.
Tetyana called the funeral anti-African and said it was the highest demonstration of a government with no ethical or moral values.
The EFF said they would also lay a complaint with the Public Protector.
