The Eastern Cape provincial government will be embarking on mass screening and testing.
This, as the number of Covid19 cases, increase in the province, particularly in Nelson Mandela Bay and the Sarah Baartman District.
Bhisho spokesperson, Mvusi Sicwetsha, says a report by the provincial department of health on Sunday noted that the number of active cases in the last 24 hours up to Sunday night, was 9 460.
He says the epidemiological report further noted that nearly 90% of those cases were from the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and Sarah Baartman municipalities.
Bhisho says police will be enforcing the wearing of masks in public places.
The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize will be in Nelson Mandela Bay on Tuesday to launch the mass testing campaign.
