Police were conducting a manhunt on Wednesday for a suspect wanted in connection with the brutal murder of a young woman from Jonkersberg outside Great Brak River.
The body of 22-year-old Clodine Nuys was discovered early Tuesday night behind a creche by members of the local community who searched for her after she did not return home from work.
Nuys worked at the local library after being employed by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said their investigation led the team to a house in the same village where a young man, believed to be linked to the crime, resides.
"However, on arrival at the house, the suspect fled the scene. We mobilised the K9 unit as well as other members from the surrounding area to search for him".
Pojie also said that a post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday.
