Manhunt underway for five suspects following Gqeberha house robbery

File

Gqeberha police have launched a manhunt for five suspects following a house robbery in Bushy Park.

Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the incident happened at a smallholding on Seaview Road on Friday when the complainant went outside with his dog and was confronted by five suspects.

She says three of them were armed with firearms.

The suspects forced the complainant into the house where he was tied up, and they demanded money and firearms.

Captain Janse van Rensburg says the suspects took cash, cellphones, a TV set and jewelry before fleeing in the complainant's white Ford Ranger bakkie.

The vehicle was found abandoned on Old Uitenhage Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

No shots were fired and no one was injured during the robbery.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident police arrested two suspects who robbed a couple who arrived at their home in Zokwana Street, Kwazakhele, on Friday night.

Janse Van Rensburg said the man and his wife were assaulted by the attackers who were known to them.

The pair, aged 28 and 42, were arrested at their house and the stolen cell phones and cash recovered.

They are due to appear in court on Monday.
