Port Elizabeth police are looking for at least three suspects believed to have been involved in separate break-ins in Broadwood and Walmer Heights in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says in the first incident at around 1am, a couple was assaulted in the granny flat of a home in Broadwood.
They were taken to St Georges Hospital for treatment but were not seriously injured.
A cellphone was taken during the robbery and a television set was found abandoned near the house.
Van Rensburg says in the second incident at around 3 am, an elderly woman was tied up by two suspects in the bedroom of her granny flat in Walmer Heights.
The flat was ransacked by the suspects who fled on foot after the home owner disturbed them.
An X-box and a television set were found abandoned nearby.
