Former president Nelson Mandela's grandson Mandla Mandela is due to appear in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
This is a continuation of the case which was postponed due to the passing of his grandfather.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, says he faces charges of assault and pointing a fire-arm following an alleged altercation with a teacher last October.
"We are expecting that we can formally charge him today and then give him a date for the trial to commence. This is a case where we had taken a decision to charge him in November but unfortunately his grandfather passed away so he asked the State to postpone the case until January" he said
